Hello, readers! Thank you for reviewing, rereading, and offering your support as we release the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions. Your boundless support for the Starship’s Mage series over the years has been a source of joy and inspiration for both Glynn and I, on the writing and the publishing side. We appreciate every time you dive into the books, share your thoughts in a review, or reach out to us with a message. Every time you do, you remind us of why we do what we do! Your enthusiasm for the series keeps it alive and allows Glynn to keep writing and publishing the books that he loves.
Our latest project here at Faolan’s Pen Publishing has been creating 10th anniversary editions of the first five Starship’s Mage books. This involves creating new ebooks, paperbacks, and audiobooks for each of the five books, so I’ve collected some of the frequently asked questions about the editions here.
If you have any questions, here are some things to know:
Can I still read the books I bought before the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions came out?
Some of you might have spotted hiccups in the listings with previous editions of Starship’s Mage Books 1-5. We’re actively working to resolve these, but in the meantime, you can rest easy knowing that any books you’ve already purchased are still in your library.
Here’s a quick breakdown:
- Ebooks: Some of the older edition Starship’s Mage ebooks might temporarily be shown as not part of the series. You can search your library for the title, and it will still be there!
- Audiobooks: It’s difficult to search your library for older editions, so we put together a guide. Check it out how to get your audiobooks that aren’t showing up.
What’s different about the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions?
What makes the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions such a big event? Here’s a sneak peek directly from Glynn’s notes…
- Starship’s Mage Book 1: “This has been revised remove much of the awkwardness of it originally being written as novellas. While the episodes remain as individual story arcs, the initial reintroductions at the start of each arc have been smoothed. As my oldest published work, I also found the writing quite rough going back to it, so it has been re-copyedited and smoothed throughout. Plus, it now has chapters!”
- Books 2-5: “These books didn’t have the same issue of being an omnibus of shorter works, but were still some of my earliest works and it showed. They’ve been revised for errors found over the years, re-copyedited, and generally smoothed over and gently cleaned up.”
Why did you release the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions under new ASINs/ISBNs instead of just updating the existing text?
Starting fresh meant losing the advantages of Amazon search rankings, reviews, and everything the original editions had built up over time. Still, the updates we made were significant enough that Glynn and I felt it was important to release new editions to be transparent with his readers. We didn’t think it would be fair to update the existing books without making it clear that these versions included substantial changes, especially in Starship’s Mage Book 1.
I know that some readers are suspicious of re-releases, but I think they’re overestimating the benefit that we get from them. We’ve also worked hard to make sure that everyone still has access to the editions that they’ve bought previously.
Are the Starship’s Mage 10th Anniversary Editions still in Kindle Unlimited?
Absolutely. For our loyal KU readers, the new editions of Starship’s Mage, Hand of Mars, Voice of Mars, Alien Arcana, and Judgment of Mars will be available in Kindle Unlimited from the day they’re published. Whether you’re reading them for the first time or revisiting old favorites, you’ll be able to borrow them through KU until at least May 2025.
What’s going on with the older books that currently AREN’T in Kindle Unlimited?
Good question! Due to Kindle Unlimited’s terms, we can only have one version of a book in the program at a time, and each enrollment lasts for 90 days. This means that as we prepare the new editions, there might be a gap where the older versions aren’t available in KU before the updated ones launch. We know it’s not ideal, and we appreciate your patience during this transition.
Once the new editions are released, they’ll be back in KU, ready for you to enjoy. All of the books will be back in Kindle Unlimited as of February 11, 2025.

Update: Health and Response Times
Unfortunately, I’m also dealing with an extended bout of illness right now, so we’re running behind with the paperbacks, and overall we are slower to respond than we usually are. I appreciate your understanding and patience as Glynn and I work to get back to business as usual in the new year. -Jack

I am having a lot of problems getting Alexa to play my audiobooks in the starship mage series and quite often it says that such a book does not exist. I have tried it with other devices not just my own personal Alexa devices and I’ve tried reaching out to Amazon with no help from them is it possible you can chase up with them? What’s happening when you ask it to play the audiobook given the full title and the author’s name and it still can’t find it.
Thanks
Mark
Glynn Stewart says
Hi Mark,
Unfortunately, we’ve changed audiobook publishers for the first five Starship’s Mage books and while readers still have access to their original versions, Audible handles this very, VERY poorly.
This is a widespread technical issue on their end that, unfortunately, I have zero influence over. Your best chance is to follow up with them (they’re more likely to listen to you than me on this!)
Thanks,
-Glynn

Are you interested in us informing you of any typos that we find in the new 10th editions?
If so, how do we submit them?
Glynn Stewart says
Please send any typos in via the contact form: https://www.glynnstewart.com/contact/
They won’t be updated quickly, I’m afraid, but I do keep track of them and do corrections when I have to make updates to the books for any reason.
Thanks!
-Glynn
