So the first set of edits on Changeling's Fealty is complete, producing a second draft that (per my agent's request) now actually includes chapter breaks. Unfortunately, I will not be free to post much on here in the next few weeks as I have started an advanced tax course for my day job, which will be sucking down much of my sanity... I mean time for the next ten weeks or so. I'm waiting on more responses from first readers at this point to start on more work for Changeling's Fealty in any ... Read more »

Things to do as a Writer
So, while I work on editing the second draft of Changeling's Fealty and writing an outline before the deadline agreed with my agent hits, I'm going to take a few minutes to write things I think are helpful to being a writer and becoming a better writer. 1. Write. It seems simple, but its very easy to talk about your amazing story idea... and never do anything with it. 2. Read. Never stop reading. Fiction, for enjoyment and to learn style tricks. Non-fiction, for information, for ... Read more »
Changeling’s Fealty
So, at a first draft length of 98,159 words, Changeling's Fealty is complete. At just under four months in the writing, Changeling is definitely in the running for shortest time frame I've ever written a novel in (I think one other piece was finished in something similiar, years ago). Nanowrimo gave me a huge boost writing the book. Having that extra pressure to get the first 50,000 words out helped wonders, and once I had 50,000 words, I was good to go to finish the rest of the ... Read more »
Milestones
Today, Changeling's Fealty hit 90,000 words. There have been some brutal scenes in the last 10,000 words - a lot of things have come out from under the shadows. Some cold blooded acts were taken by good guys. Some pretty explicitly evil things were done by bad guys. 90,000 words is a pretty important milestone in my mind though. This is the end game, the final pages of the book, the point at which I can definitely say that this book will get finished. Also the point where I start ... Read more »
Made It!
With barely hours to go to midnight, dinner still uncooked, and a ten hour work day behind me, I scraped out 1200 ish words today to bring Changeling's Fealty to 85,000 words - making my 10,000 word goal for the month. February's goal is to finish this book - starting with a 1000 words a day. 30,000 words or a finished novel! And now I'm going to go cook dinner for myself. Namaste Glynn ... Read more »
Baby Steps…
This weekend was a mad rush on my part to try and catch up to my now heavily reduced goal. I started the weekend barely past five thousand words, and realized that without a significant effort, I wasn't even going to make my reduced 10,000 word goal! Well, with racking in 2,346 words today, I am 9,017/10,000 for the month. Hopefully, I will make the last nine hundred odd words tomorrow night, but for now, I have work in the morning and a cat on my lap. Time to put the writing cap ... Read more »
