We’ve been keeping a careful eye on our total numbers for e-book and print sales. We were over 900,000 and creeping in the direction of a million units sold, so the plan was to send out a press release to the local newspapers when we crossed that line.
“Local independent author sells one million books” makes for a nice human interest piece for them and some solid visibility for us.
We were tracking the numbers and it looked like we’d clear the million sale line sometime this fall. But there was something missing from my spreadsheet – it was only e-book and print. Because our audiobooks are mostly sold through publishers and ACX’s reporting is ugly to try and import into my spreadsheet, I’d never included them.
Yesterday, I took the plunge and manually loaded them in. The inclusion is far from perfect to my data-analyst brain, but the numbers are in there and I learned something fascinating.
We’ve sold over 100,000 audiobooks. Above, I noted that we’d sold more than 900,000 e-books and print books.
Sometime this winter, I can’t be sure exactly when, we cleared a million books sold.
One. Million. Books.
I’m not even sure I can process that number and making sense of numbers like that used to be my job!
It’s a huge milestone and all thanks to the people who read and listen to my work. Thank you all!
I hope you keep on reading. I have a lot more books rattling around the back of my head demanding to get out, after all!
Happy reading 🙂

Congrats!
Bound series of space merc books came to a strong conclusion. As did the Fae series, though I am hopeful that someday there might be more written in that world.
Funny that I started out reading the Castle Federation series and now that is probably the least favorite of your series for me to read (though that isn’t a criticism). Usually it goes the other way and additional series don’t live up to my initial experience with an author.
Really looking forward to seeing Hand Montgomery unleash some retribution.

Congratulations!
A million books sold? Who cares what format, its a digital world out there and people are buying them because they get enjoyment from them. I know I do and I always look forward to your next adventure written. The Hand of Mars series and its spinoff is still my favorite and I like to go back to the beginning for a reread now and then. I’m happy for your success and I truly hope you are enjoying yourself writing.
Wishing you the best, Cheers!

Congratulations. And well earned. I’ve been raving about your books for a while – and certainly the Starship Mage series has been my most enjoyable – I just love that mash-up between science and technology – so well balanced and thought out. The history and connected plot lines are a joy to read!
I will also say that I really enjoyed the ONSET and Changeling Blood series as well. Both really imaginative and innovative works.

Hey Glynn,
I started out reading your Castle Federation series and then jumped to your exile series. Well done.
