Your Privacy
Your privacy is incredibly important to us – we don’t like it when someone signs us up for their newsletter without asking, and we’ll never do it to you! If you give us your contact information, we keep it private and only use it in the way you explicitly agree to.
We also want you to understand how we collect and process your personal data, through our company and on glynnstewart.com and our other domains. If you have any questions about how we use your data, please email webmaster @ faolanspen.com.
Who we are
Faolan’s Pen Publishing Inc. is the data controller and we are responsible for your personal data (referred to as “we”, “us” or “our” in this privacy policy.) Our full contact details are:
Owners: Glynn Stewart and Jack Giesen
Full name of legal entity: Faolan’s Pen Publishing Inc.
Website address: glynnstewart.com
Email address: webmaster @ faolanspen.com
Street address: 22 King Street S.
City: Waterloo

Country: Canada

We also use domains like faolanspen.com, ashenstarsbook.com and exilespaceopera.com to redirect to pages on the main site glynnstewart.com. This is so you can easily type in a short web address directly from one of our postcards or advertisements.
The author Glynn Stewart (glynnstewart.com) is represented by the publisher Faolan’s Pen Publishing Inc. (faolanspen.com). We use the domain faolanspen.com for our email addresses. The domain faolanspen.com currently redirects to our publisher page at https://www.glynnstewart.com/faolanspen/
Important note about affiliate links
Many of our links to Amazon and Amazon Kindle include an affiliate code. If you click on a link to one of our books on Amazon, you’ll be automatically redirected to your country’s Amazon store. If we have an affiliate code with that region’s store, Amazon will start tracking your session, and we’ll receive a small portion of any purchases you make. We’re basically receiving an advertising fee for directing you to an Amazon store: this is called the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.
To learn more about how Amazon stores track your purchases, look up your country’s Amazon store or view the privacy policy for Amazon.com at https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468496
What personal data we collect at events and for contests
Occasionally we collect contact information in person at events. What information is collected depends on the event, and is listed on our Privacy at Events page.
If we meet you at an event and you provide your business card or advertising material (such as a flyer or postcard) to us or our representatives, we reserve the right to keep that information on file and use it to contact you directly. We will never add you to a mailing list without your permission.
What personal data we use for the mailing list
To sign up for our mailing list (our new releases newsletter), enter your email address in the newsletter signup form you can find on the homepage and at the bottom right of most pages on glynnstewart.com. After you click “submit,” you’ll receive an email from us asking you to confirm that you want to be added to the list.
We run our mailing list through Mailchimp, which means that they have access to your email address (and name, if you provide it.) Mailchimp also automatically logs your IP address and the time that you opted into the newsletter, both to prevent spam and so that we have a record that you want to be on the mailing list. You can view the company’s full privacy policy here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
Occasionally, we allow website visitors to sign up to receive a specific reminder about a specific event. If you sign up for one of these emails, you will not receive further emails unless you explicitly opt in to the new releases newsletter.
You can ALWAYS unsubscribe from our emails. Emails we send out through Mailchimp have an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email. If you have any problems, please email webmaster @ faolanspen.com.
What information we collect about you from third parties
If you are a journalist, editor or blogger, we may receive your contact information through your website, your employer’s website, from specific event organizers or via a press release distribution service. We use this data to send press releases or requests for review that we think would be relevant to you.
If you are a reviewer, librarian, educator or bookseller who has requested one of our titles on Netgalley, we keep a record of the information on your profile. This helps us determine which users leave reviews on our books, and how to respond to requests in the future. By requesting one of our titles, you also agree that if your request is approved, we may send you ONE review reminder by email when the book is due for release. Visit Netgalley’s privacy policy at: https://www.netgalley.com/privacy
If you are a bookseller, we may receive your contact information from your website, marketing materials, or from a directory that you have a membership with. If we contact you, it will usually be with an offer for an advance reader copy of a particular title, or we may send a reminder by mail that a specific title is available for order. If we contact you to gauge interest in holding an author event, we check your website for an events policy first. We try to honor how you prefer to be contacted whenever possible.
If you are an author, we may contact you or your agent for a review request if a particular title seems like something you would enjoy. If we can find information on when and how you prefer to be contacted, we make every effort to honor it.
If you believe that you have received an email from us in error, or would prefer that we no longer contact you, please contact webmaster @ faolanspen.com.
What personal data we collect on the website
Analytics
We use Google Analytics so that we can keep track of what pages our users are visiting, and make improvements to the site. To learn more about how Google uses data when you visit our site and other sites that use Google Analytics, visit: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form. We also record the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help with spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
If you have left comments on this site, you can email webmaster @ faolanspen.com to request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Contact forms
When you submit a message through our Contact page, the information you include on the form, as well as your IP address to prevent spam, is saved to our website and your message is sent to us by email. We reserve the right to keep your message on file for administration purposes, just like we would any other email.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Security
What information we do collect is secured through an SSL certificate. Learn more about HTTPS here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTTPS
Who we share your data with
We don’t ever sell your data. Only employees, contractors and service providers that need the information to do their jobs (such as website maintenance, hosting and customer service) have access to your data.
Updates to this policy
We keep our policy up to date on this page, at https://www.glynnstewart.com/privacy-policy/
